Gigawatt
For Radio K’s 25th birthday, I worked with First Avenue to throw a big, two-night party. First Avenue handled the booking, and I spearheaded the branding and planning.
I worked with our graphic designer, who created an official flier for the event. I also wrote scripts for on-air promotion, and worked with our programming director to develop an on-air promo schedule. Additionally, I developed a social media plan in order to promote each night of our birthday party.
Each night’s lineup consisted of three bands that were very “Radio K-core”. They were artists that we spun regularly, and also included in features such as our “Album of The Week”. Both headlining artists, Guerilla Toss and Frankie Cosmos, were touring in support of new records that we were playing. Having them play at our birthday party was timely.
Looking to further promote the station both to attendees who may not have been ultra-familiar and via our existing audience, Radio K had banners hung up throughout the venue, as well as stickers, pins, and other merchandise available for free at each event. The turnout of night one at the 7th St. Entry was around 150 ticket buyers, and the turnout for night two at the Fine Line was closer to 450.
