Dark Energy

Dark Energy is an organization that throws concerts and dance parties that feature goth and dark-wave artists and DJs. There are typically about two events per month. Since joining the team in May 2019, I’ve planned and produced DE’s social media content in order to promote each event. I have also worked with external organizations to manage ticket giveaways and sponsorships, including Radio K, KFAI, First Avenue, and more.

We have thrown all sorts of events, from Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties, to an annual Vampire’s Ball, to a party on a yacht called ‘Yacht Goth’, all of which have sold out in the past year. These events have featured national and international acts such as Boy Harsher, Light Asylum, Minuit Machine, Drab Majesty, and more. We also throw smaller scale events around various venues such as the Kitty Cat Klub, Mortimers, and Loring Bar, which feature local DJs and artists.

Recently, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we have shifted to throwing weekly virtual parties, by streaming online on Twitch. We have built lineups that have featured artists such as Panther Modern, Fee Lion, Visceral Anatomy, and more. Along with promoting these online, I help moderate the chatroom, to ensure everyone is kind and respectful to each other while participating in our stream. These events have been featured in various publications, such as post-punk.com.
