Pop-Up Concert 2018

As a part of a big push for recruitment, Radio K throws a pop-up concert on the University of Minnesota campus every year. While I was marketing director, I was responsible for spearheading the planning process of the pop-up concert at the beginning of the Fall 2018 semester.

I started by meeting with the Weisman Art Collective to reserve space for the event right in front of the museum. This is a big crossing point on campus, as it’s right on the Washington Avenue Bridgehead, which guarantees a lot of traffic.

We booked some trendy and talented local acts to perform, including Bailey 26 Cogan of local neo-soul group ‘26 BATS!’ and hip-hop duo, Neon Blaque. We also ordered Radio K mugs, and partnered with Misfit coffee so that the first 200 people to grab a mug and sign up for the Radio K email list could get a free cup of coffee. Throughout the event, we added 400 names of students to our email list, which sends out opportunities and information for students who want to volunteer or work at Radio K. This maintains the functionality of Radio K, as our student staff, DJs, and volunteers are constantly turning over as they graduate from the University of Minnesota.
